ARES/RACES/SKYWARN/CERT

Radio nets are held on every Sunday at 21:00 on the Bangor repeater at 147.360+ PL 94.8.

Monthly meetings are held on the second Saturday of the month  

RACES - will May 9th at 9:00 am, Paw Paw Sheriff Dept. EOC
Everyone is welcome you do not have to be a member to attend.

WB01372_.gif (406 bytes)All FEMA tests should be completed by September 30, 2006.  This includes:  IS-100, IS-200, IS-700 and IS-800.  In order to remain NIMS compliant all first responders must complete these courses.  This includes all ARES/RACES members.  Please contact Lt. Alain Svilpe with any questions, or to obtain your current status.

WB01372_.gif (406 bytes)Traffic nets are held on the IRA Link Repeater System every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9pm.  Please feel free to join the nets and relay any information that is local traffic for you (147.16 Grand Rapids or 145.47 Benton Harbor -- PL94.8).

WB01372_.gif (406 bytes)  5th district hospital nets will be held on the first Wednesday of every other month at 7pm.  The net frequency will be the SMART club repeater in Kalamazoo (147.040+ PL94.8).

Help Wanted  all licensed amateur radio operators to join the fun.  The Van Buren County ARES/RACES/Skywarn organization is looking for new people with there skills to get involved in the local community.

The ARES/RACES/Skywarn group provide curtail communication when needed in a time of disaster or public event.  Whether it is a tornado, brush fire, downed aircraft, severe weather, search and rescue, even a marathon or an air show.

The FCC recognizes the capability of Amateur Radio by stating its "recognition and enhancement of the value of the amateur service to the public as a voluntary noncommercial communication service, particularly with respect to providing emergency communications."  You need not be a member of the ARRL to belong t ARES/RACES/Skywarn.  You do not have to spend any money.  You do not have to spend every other weekend training for a disaster.  You only have to dedicate as much spare time as you want to public service.

Help Amateur Radio "pay it way".  Please check into our ARES/RACES/Skywarn net which meet every Sunday night at 9:00pm, or come to our monthly meeting which is held at the Van Buren County Sheriffs Dept. on the second Saturday of the month at 9:00am.
